Thank you to everyone who contributed towards making the workshop a success!

Overview

The workshop will be held on Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 April at the Department of Applied Mathematics of the University of Stellenbosch. We can accommodate a limited number of people, so please let us know as soon as possible if you are interested in attending.
The workshop will be introductory, but assumes a basic knowledge of Python. Specifically, we will assume that you will have worked through the Python tutorial, and have read through Perry Greenfield's tutorial (listed below).
We have an agreement with Travis Oliphant to distribute copies of his book on NumPy at a reduced price. You will therefore be charged R100 to attend the workshop. For this price you get a once-off hardcopy of the latest version of the book as well as the PDF. If you want to receive future updates you need to pay an additional R130 (this amounts to $30 instead of the regular $40 per copy, i.e. still a reduced price).
As we are short on computers, please bring your laptop if you have one, the necessary software will be made available on CD at the workshop.
The workshop will run from 09:00 on Wednesday until we either pass out or hit 17:00. We'll break for coffee and lunch, not provided. For lunch we'll probably go over to the Neelsie where everyone has to fend for themselves.

Preparatory Material

ShowMeDo's videos serve as a good introduction to IPython. They also use IPython in some of their other examples, like this introduction to Python objects.
